Wisconsin Legislature has declared by joint resolution that the 3rd Saturday in July each year as Aquaculture Day in the state. This is likely the first of its kind state aquaculture day in the nation. The resolution acknowledges aquaculture as an important agriculture industry in Wisconsin, has a sound environmental history using sustainable best management practices, and contributing over $21 million to the state’s economy. The Wisconsin Aquaculture Association along with member fish farms, is celebrating this day by having 12 member farms open to the public for tours, demonstrations, cooking demonstrations with recipes, and various talks on Saturday, July 21.
